You may not be aware, but there are currently significant delays within the driving tuition industry causing problems & elongated timescales to the entire process of the learning journey.
These issues mostly stem from the COVID era when the entire industry was shut down for the best part of a year. This combined with a natural transition of driving examiners starting & leaving their roles have given the DVSA a considerable headache over the past few years & have meant longer than usual wait times for driving tests.
The knock-on effect of this delay for tests has meant that as instructors we are having to keep hold of pupils for longer than we otherwise normally would to ensure that their driving remains at a good standard whilst they await their test booking. As such we are finding it harder & harder to find free spaces to take on new pupils to begin their journey.
As an industry we are all working incredibly hard to try to ease this situation; from the DVSA recruiting more driving examiners to create more test capacity, through to us instructors trying to be more creative with our diaries in terms of hours & flexible booking patterns, we are all doing our best to play our part.
We do understand how frustrating it can be when people are eager to start driving, we were all there once don’t forget, but we do ask that you please bear with us & can show patience whilst we strive to do our best in the situation.
As pupils or as parents of pupils you can help the situation by planning ahead & making yourself known to instructors in advance. Sadly suddenly deciding on a whim that you wish to learn to drive tomorrow is likely to leave you disappointed.
